Jay Winner at Meadowbank
Picture shows Jay Hogg age 13 and chief instructor of Shotokan2000 Karate Clubs James Ford , Jay is another young up and coming competitors who recently got a bronze medal in the under 5ft 2in Fighting event at the Scottish open youth competition which was held at Meadow Bank stadium in Edinburgh. Jay who has won trophies at club competitions has recently stepped up to more major events Edinburgh being his second major event and to win a bronze medal in this tournament is absolutely brilliant as there is a lot of good youngsters at this level. Jay also has been taking part in Kata events where the competitor goes on the floor and perform Karate routines, Shotokan2000 is not short of coaches for this as they have the current Scottish Kata champion in there group. His instructor James said he felt it was time Jay stepped up to a higher level of competition and he said that Jay done really good to get a Bronze at this level. Jay has been training 5 days a week and it is really paying of as he is ready to sit his Junior Black Belt before the end of the year. Sport Karate is a safe and well organised sport where kids wear feet pads, gum shields and hand pads, with minimum contact, its fast and exciting to watch.
