James Ford Junior takes a massive step forward for Scotland, James won a gold medal on Saturday at the British International Open Karate Championships at the Kelvin Hall in Glasgow. the competition hosted 15 Countries and entering the 18-21 years Kata event which is a form of elimination where James eliminated competitors' from Russia,France, England and met a fellow Scot in the finals, he took the gold medal with all the judges in every round voting for James. James has been training 5 days a week at Dowies Gym who sponsors James's training facilities, James's father who coaches him was with him on the day says its the best he has seen James perform, James won the Scottish Championships earlier this year has even improved since then. James had to really step up on the day as the British International Competition hosted some of the best in the World. Winning this event puts James a step closer to represent Scotland in Kata events all over the world. James's dad James Senior and his Uncle Bert have both done Karate for 37 years in the Fife area and have never known anybody to win a Gold Medal in a Major competition at this level in this area.
